I believe CK20 is at his prime now and did not become the player everyone thought he would become. Don't get me wrong CK is one of my favorite players. Cap and age wise CK contact at 7M 7Y would become an albatross contract for the Rangers and most fans knows it as well. If CK would take 6M 6Y or 6.5M 5Y and give the Rangers a hometown discount I believe the Rangers would resign him, however if he doesn't give the Rangers that hometown discount best move is to trade him which doesn't make me all that happy. Zib and CK play together is excellent. I just hope CK gives the Rangers that hometown discount.......

besides the money, I think a big hurdle in the negotiations for a new CK contract will be a NMC. I am certain he'd want one, and he has every right to insist on one, he will want to know he won't be left unprotected and not suddenly selected by Seattle in June of 2021.

Rangers do really need to get out of the NMC business, but it may be a tool they can use to keep his price down.

Waiting ..Patience ... better be ready to wait it out ,as said 13 games till ....
Decision time ,Unless NYR gets knocked over with a cant pass up this deal OR we come out flat & young & get knocked out of PO's .... we will have to WAit till to see IF

Krieder : hope not but could be rental to resign ,cant pass up a bushel of talent & get him back for a reasonable 6.5 mill avg. to come back home ...hes a true NY'er & want s to stay here .
Georgie / HANK, hope HANK wins a cup out there ,OR pkg Georgie to max out value
Buchny tried to make him a top 6... Nope ,should be part of pkg to get the upgrade at top 6 we need to go with Krieds & Zib or play K K with them & get a new wing for ARtemi/Strome ,
Staal : would love him to take a deal BUT buyout is next anyway
Strome -AdA gotta sign Strome,AdA may get pkg'd due to his game but i see him signing here as well ,Kids are coming but being a factor as rooks is asking alot
Smith -pay his way to go , may have to eat 2 mill next yr to save 2 mill & roster spot
Howden O K but could get pkg d to round out a deal , bottom 6 or 4th liner
Lias : get healthy & get pkg'd not your fault.... over valued
Shey : great contract & his flashes keep him in mix ,may go If a pkg to get a top D for Trouba is found .
Fast : could go if the right pick /prospect is offered BUt more likely stay & resign for a fair but valuable deal to NYR
I M O i hope we get super hot & run off a 6 pack to get the juices goin & get team in the buy mode it should be , with the prospects & picks we have NOW we can find a top D left side & top 6 fwd & still have Krieds Strome maybe AdA or Skjei depending .

With all the depth on the horizon in defense I wonder if they make Trouba available before July 1st and keep ADA?

Top Defense men arent available and if one was, it would cost a lot more than a package of Shady and a first round pick.

Why would a team trade a second liner for Buchy if you consider Buchy a third liner? Third liners are easier to come by. So why would a team actually downgrade its roster?

Trading a defenseman that is on course for 65+ points at 24 years old, would be one of the biggest mistakes this team could possibly make. Use the abundance of prospects on D to make a trade. Not ADA.

Completely agree here. I know Nils Lundqvist is a great prospect, but I’ll stick with knowing what we have in ADA over a prospect. Trouba/ADA/Fox is a great right side for the next 6+ years. Trade Nils for an equally promising forward prospect.

Yeah, need to lock up ADA ASAP!
No reason to trade a rising star like he is because there is a prospect that might pan out. I get that he is going to command a decent raise, have to find a way to pay him.

We just need to find a way to get past next year cap wise. After that Hank/Smith/Staal contracts are gone, Shattenkirk’s hit goes from 6+ back to 1+ etc.

Call me crazy, but I think I’d rather keep Nils and deal Miller. I don’t think there’s that big of a gap in potential, while I think Nils is heading in a better direction with regards to development.

K’andre is a beast though, so that would suck...

The expansion draft is going to be tricky with the defenseman. If Skjei is traded, signing Staal to a 1 year deal for the sole purpose of exposing him wouldn’t be a bad idea. Trouba ADA would be protected, Fox/Lindgren/Hajek would be exempt. We would still be required to expose someone with over 2 years NHL experience that has played 40+ games that season or 70+ over the last 2 seasons combined. Staals contract would be expired by the draft which is why we would need to sign him to a 1 year extension. The only other option would be to sign a FA defenseman to a 2 year deal this offseason.

Ya but Miller could have a spot on the left, Lindgren/Hajek/Miller. Nils has no spot on the right, Trouba ADA Fox

Im sure if the Rangers want to sign a player and not include a NMC it will have to be for MORE money not less!!

Yeah, that's sad. Ironically we were out at dinner when the wife saw the feed and Kansas Dust in the Wind was playing.

If Gorton can somehow finagle these contracts he would be a genius.

Thank God the all-star weekend is over! I haven't watched the game in years, but caught part of it last night. Wow, was it brutal. Even the 3 vs. 3 format is awful. Every player is skating at about 1/4 speed, it is completely unwatchable. Just really makes you appreciate the level of play these guys play at on an every day basis.

I’m concerned about his college year. Also didn’t have a great WC. But I admittedly haven’t watched either. Is there really that much of a difference?

I have high hopes for K'andre Personally think it would be a huge mistake to trade either Nils or Miller until we seem them at the pro level. We finally have some prospects and now we want to trade them? Seems rash

Its better than 5-5 but yeah, I watched a little of it and it seems like they are playing way slower than when they 1st started the 3-3
